I'm so excited, I just got the news that one of my photos was selected to be in a slide show on Schmap City Guide for a review of Birch Aquarium!!! They chose a photo of a yellow Angel Fish I took on my visit last year. I'm so excited... CLICK HERE to check it out. Just look for the small slide show on the right of the page.

New Travel Zine: Day Tripper ~ Adventures in Day Tripping
Wikipedia.org calls a Day-Tripper “a person who goes on a trip, esp. an excursion, lasting all or part of a day.” I’m definitely a Day-Tripper. I love to travel and explore new cities. Most of the time my life is too busy or it’s just not in the budget to take a long vacation. These are perfect times for day trips.
Day trips are quick, usually very easy to plan and can provide a wide range of benefits for your life. You get the physical benefits of walking or hiking and exploring a new town or trail. You get the social benefit of spending time with people you enjoy or you enjoy the peace and solitude of traveling by yourself. You may even enjoy the intellectual benefit of learning something new. Plus without airfare and hotel day trips are usually very cost effective!
CLICK HERE to check out the first issue! In the next issue I’ll be sharing storries of a day trip to The Desert Botanical Gardens in Phoenix, their Butterfly Pavilion, a review of the snack bar and 5 new day trip ideas!
See you on the road!

I really enjoy sharing my experiences with others so I decided to start a eZine called Day Tripper ~ An adventure in day tripping. There you can read my stories of the day trips I go on, must see shops and resturants, cool things to see and do as well as all the discounts, tips and hints that I learned on my journey. I love to take pictures so I’ll also be sharing photos of the regional landscapes, wildlife, architecture and anything cool I see along the way.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!
Well, I’m sad to say that we didn’t get snow as I hoped. The mountain behind my house got snow, the mountain in front of my house got snow, but I didn’t get any snow yet. I’m sad. I was really looking forward to getting snow. So since the snow didn’t come visit me, I decided to go visit the snow. I drove over into Prescott and found several places that got a nice blanket of snow. Here’s just one…
I took several pictures and a few small videos. I even got out of the car and made my first snow angel of the season. We’re expecting more snow overnight. I’m hoping that it stays cold like predicted so the snow sticks. I’ll work on another pic and a funny video and post them tomorrow. That reminds me that I need to get some waterproof snow boots and snowboarding pants (when I made my snow angel my jeans and boots got wet).
Well, I’m off to warm up and fix some dinner. Mmmm chicken & rice bake. Yummy!
Warm wishes,
Christina

San Diego 2008
I'll tell ya, I miss living in San Diego so much. I lived here for a bit when I was in Junior High. I loved going to the beach all the time. Everyone is so friendly and down to earth... Not a lot of materialism, more natural people. I love it... so does the hippy in me. The only thing I'm missing this week is my boyfriend. I wish he was able to come but he had to work. Maybe next year when we go to Cancun!!!
My family rented a 2 bedroom condo that's only 4 block from Pacific Beach. Very cute, beach bungalow type of condo. It's in an 8 plex with a small courtyard... think of a beach version of Melrose place but with down to earth people. lol. We have hardwood floors and a 60's inspired kitchen. We have free phone, cable w/all the channels and free wifi!!! I can't go anywhere w/o my laptop these days. We even have bikes, chairs and boogie boards to use. So last night I rode down to the beach. Man, I could so get used to this.
This week is going to be more about relaxing than sight seeing. But we will do some fun stuff. One day we plan on going to Balboa Park (the coolest park on the west coast) and visit the Museum of Natural History. Another day we plan on driving down town to visit "Little Italy" the Italian district. I'm so excited. I haven't had good canoli in years. We're also talking about going to the Scripps Aquarium in La Jolla. I haven't been there but considering I wanted to be an Oceanographer in middle school it will be a very fun experience for me.
Well, so much to do... and so little time. We'll only be here for a week. So I gotta soak up as much of this sea air as possible before this little fish (if you didn't all ready know I'm a Pisces) has to go back to the desert.
Blessed be,
Christina

Cancun
One of my favorite reasons to go to Cancun besides the beautiful, pristine white sand beaches and clear, aqua waters is the night life. There is something for everyone… from romantic, sunset dinner cruises to high energy night clubs and everything inbetween. You can listen to local Marachi performers or the latest Latino artist, they have jazz music, 80’s music, a energetic Latino/Country hybrid to rock and high energy dance.
Most resorts in Cancun have an amazing activities staff and most arrange night time events like dinner cruises and excursions to night clubs. Normally I don’t go on most of these because they are “all you can drink” and considering I don’t really drink sometimes it’s just not worth it. But last year I found one club that was.
One evening our activity team director told us we were going dancing but we were also going to see a show. Several people asked if it was a “local show” of indigenious music and dance. No, our director told us we were going to a place where “Las Vegas meets Hollywood”. Everyone was a bit confused… Were we going to see a Vegas style show or were we going to see some type of concert?
We arrived at a very popular club called Coco Bongo. We were all ushered inside to our reserved table and there were Go-Go dancers on the bar shaking their grove thing to the music. Everyone ordered drinks and danced for about 30 minutes. Then the Go-Go Dancers got off the stage and the lights went down.
The next several hours were filled with sessions of the club goers dancing and live performances by one of the best international impression troops I’ve ever seen. It was so much more than just a typical “Impressionist” show of lip syncing and costumes. These people knew every word and every dance step to songs from Madonna, Kiss, Guns & Roses, Michael Jackson, Cher and many other vocal acts. They also did choreographed acrobatic/trapeze/rope routines to themes like The Matrix, Batman and Robin with the Riddler and the Joker, Passion of the Christ and others. Coco Bongo Check it out!
The perfomances lasted on and off till past 1am then the club turned back into a high energy dance club again. I stayed and danced till about 4am that morning. On the bus ride back to my resort my mind was still reeling with all the sights and sounds that I saw. I just wish I had a backup battery to my camera so I could have got more video! (YES! It’s VERY safe to take the bus ALONE at night in Cancun! It’s safer than a Taxi if you’re alone! and cheaper too!).
There truly in something for everyone. Next time I’ll be visiting a traditional cantina, a family owned restaurant that’s been a Cancun landmark for decades and a swanky new club at one of the biggest resorts in Cancun! I’m sad I have to wait till next year to go back but good things come to those who wait and Cancun is definitely worth it!
Blessings,
Christina

Welcome to my blog
Hi there, thanks for stopping by to check out my photography blog. My name is Christina Lucido. I’m a photographer, jewelry artist and crafter currently living in Prescott Valley, AZ. My passion is nature and travel photography, especially botanical, wildlife, macro and graphic art pieces.
When I was 4 years old when I took my first picture on vacation with my mother and I’ve been hooked ever since. When I was a child I loved to look at all the pictures in National Geographic Magazine and I was so curious about the different places, people and cultures. I wanted to visit all those remote places.
I took my first picture when I my mom took me to Disney Land when I was 4. I remember wanting to take a picture of my mom by a fountain. I’ve always been good with “technology” so she showed me where to look and what button to push and let me have at it. I specifically remember tilting the camera at a 45 degree angle and took my first picture. See back in the 70’s they were using shooting on a lot of different angles and I remember seeing one in a magazine that was tilted. Honestly, since then I’ve been hooked! I took a few photography classes in college but I’m mostly self taught.
In 2002 I got my first SLR camera, a Nikon N65. I took that camera everywhere with me. I’d take it with me when I went hiking, to the park, to Sanctuary and even to families houses for holidays and special events. I shared my pictures with my family and friends and they loved my photography. I even had several family members and friends hire me to take their portraits. Sadly enough film and developing was getting way too expensive. So in 2004 I purchased my first Digital SLR, a Nikon D70. This is the camera I use now. I love digital cameras because you can take a picture and imediately see how it turns out! Huge perk!
After purchasing my digital camera I started to provide portrait, wedding and freelance photography services to family, friends and everyone I met. I especially enjoy portrait photography in a studio, I studited theater in high school and love costumes and props. I provided my freelance services for a couple of years and was sucessful but not fulfilled. I realized that I enjoyed the peace and quiet of nature over the loud, sometimes demanding world of wedding and portrait photography. I started to explore and experiment more with landscape, wildlife, nature and macro photography and quickly expanded my all ready deep passion for the natural world.
In 2005 I started selling my photography as framed art, posters, greeting/note cards, calendars in my online store and as stock images for books and websites.
Besides posts about my photography and different destinations I’ve traveled to I’ll also be posting some of my favorite tips and tricks for taking better photos, reviews on new cameras and printers as well as a manegerie of art and craft projects that you can do with your photos.
Feel free to surf my blog and my galleries, I hope you enjoy! If you have any comments or questions feel free to post to my blog or email me at Tiggerrific74@gmail.com.
Happy surfing!
